Introduction

Mitha Indrajau is a indigenous medicinal plant to South Asian countries and Australia. The common name of Mitha Indrajau is pala indigo plant it dyer's plant or dyer's okeander. Locally, it is called aa Mitha Indrajau. The scientific name pala indigo plant is Wrightia tinctoria. It belongs to Apocynaceae family. Leaves are the major part used for medicines. It is used mainly in the treatment asthma. Basically, leaves is crushed and the juice of leaves is very fruitful for medical purpose.

The flowers, leaves, seeds and fruits are also edible. This plant has medicinal value, and is also important for dye, fodder and wood purpose.
It is used for making blue dye or indigo like dye. It is also found to be fruitful for intercrop. The timber is also valuable for the purpose of carving, toy making and making matchboxes. The sap of the plant is also found to have a good preservative value, and is being used for the preservation of milk or to keep milk fresh for some time in some regions. Because of its extreme value and wide varieties of significance, it's becoming scarce in some regions due to high level of extractions.

Some of its features for identification are: it has simple leaves with opposite leaf arrangement. Upper leaves are glabrous. Flowers are insect pollinated. Flowers have white petals that turns creamish yellow as they age. The seeds are brown in color and are flat with bunch of white hairs. If you ever encounter the Wrightia tinctoria, these features will help you in identification of plant.

    I think that it would be nice if we can use it for eco-friendly dye source.
    I'm curious how it can be cooked to eat it.
    Always too much use of a thing is followed by the danger of scarceness,
    so preserving is important as well.
