Thematic Report: October
Environmental movies - What is its green message? 2.0 is a Bollywood movie released on 2018. The main characters in this movie are Dr Vaseegaran, Chitti, Nila and a Pakshi Rajan. Dr. Vaseegaran is a scientist, Chitti and Nila are his human robot whereas Pakshi Rajan is an ornithologist. This movie is successor of 2010 movie robot in which Chitti was dismantled due to the destruction and misuse of it. Dr. Vaseegaran later creates female android human robert named Nila (Nice Intelligent, Lovely Assistant) which can understand human feelings better. The movie starts with the mobile phones disappearing from the everywhere in the city. Havoc is created in the city by a creature in form of bird. In a high class meeting scheduled to coup up with that problem, Vaseegaran heavily recommends reactivating his creation, Chitti. The government decide in favor of Vaseegaran to get chitti back into action. After he rejoins dismantled Chitt and they start to explore what was the main reason behind that dreadful situation. They later come to know that it was all done by late professor Pakshi Rajan, an ornithologist. He was all against the number of mobile service companies and their increasing frequency to provide better service in sense of competition as they affected birds. Pakshi tried his best to conserve birds but was not successful due to lack of support from government. He used to organize seminars and street awareness program to aware about welfare of the birds. Later with immense encounter with chitti in a stadium then Pakshi gets defeated. At the end, Vaseegaran suggests that Pakshis violence was wrong but his words were true thing of concern that humanity had no right to bathe in the luxuries of the world at the cost of animal's lives. Later Kumar, who is a governmental representative forwards an order to protect bird populations. I rarely watch movie and this was what I remember very first. I have seen lot of ambassador¡¯s recommendation environmental movies. I would try to watch them in my leisure time as I have already kept them in watch list. The main theme of this movie was on birds and negative effect of excessive radiation from cell phone. Research have proven the fact that the microwaves (300 MHz to 300 GHz) emitted by cell phone towers and handsets has been found to be responsible for damaging eggs and embryos of birds (Reference: https://medcraveonline.com/IJAWB/the-electromagnetic-radiations-and-its-impacts-on-bird-diversity-in-india.html#:~:text=Birds%20are%20known%20to%20be,eggs%20and%20embryos%20of%20sparrows.) The main lesson learned from the movie was that every creature whether it is small or big, it is important in this planet. Thank you! Hello Alok,
this is your mentor WooJoo.
Warm greetings from South Korea.
I've never watched this movie, but thanks to your clear summary
I was able to understand the story quite well.
It reminds me of the report which stated that the electromagnetic waves sourced by the cell phones were hurting the birds.
Although it wasn't the best way, the ornithologist fighted well.
Hope we can find a way to reduce the waves and can damage the eggs.
Thank you for ylur contribution to Tunza community.
Best wishes,
WooJoo
