Every Year World Rhino Day falls on September 22. World Rhino Day was first announced by WWF-South Africa in 2010. World Rhino Day celebrates all five species of rhino: Black, white, greater one-horned, Sumatran and Javan rhinos on September 22nd to encourage people to take steps for its conservation. The theme of World Rhino Day 2020 is "Five Rhino Species Forever". One of the five rhinoceros species living in Africa and Asia have been enlisted as the ¡°critically endangered¡± They are Javan Rhinos, Sumatran and black rhinos. The white Rhino have been declared ¡°near threatened¡± while one horned rhinos are said to be vulnerable to extinction. Rhinoceros are now restricted to few protected areas in India and Nepal totaling about 3500 individual in 12 protected areas. In Nepal rhinoceros is mainly present in Chitwan national park, Bardiya National park, shuklaphanta National Park. Rhinos have been threatened by poaching, urbanization and pollution, which have left certain rhino species on the brink of extinction while leaving other species severely endangered. Various Rhino conservation action plan has been developed in Nepal for the conservation of Rhinoceros and which are still not enough for their habitat and their existence, so it¡¯s a responsibility of every country, individual, concerned authority to focus keen eyes for its protection. Hello Sandhya,
this is your mentor Woojoo.
Thank you for introducing us about the World Rhino Day.
I've never seen a rhino, so I do not have much knowledge of it.
Thanks to you, I learned interesting facts about them.
I think that protecting their habitat, is important,
but the most important thing is not killing/hunting illegally, nor bringing them to the Zoo.
Green cheers!
Best wishes,
Woojoo
