The instant I came to this place, the sooner I felt heir love and gratitude to me by the people here. Due to geographical distances and lack of infrastructure, the people of this village are not familier with modern physical life, but this has not been able to touch their own happiness and their own lives. Today 15th Feb, I had the privilege of organizing a village cleaniness program here. Dang district in western Nepal , we did the cleaning with the active participation people of the Kalyanpur village.
As a Youth for Our Planet, mobiliser from Nepal andTunza eco generation 23rd ambassador I have organized and local youth club helped me to make people gather , we cleaned about 1.5 km area with the participation of about 30 people. Around 3 sac trash was collected and that will be disposed by municipality. Most trashes was plastics and tiny covers of tobacoo, cigarette and small food items. Though I will be in this place for just 3 more days, but we had a meeting and aggrement among the village people that they will be cleaning their village area on every first saturday of Nepali calendar month. So, they registered participant name that were present today. Also, we talked about separation of trash so that they can make compost manure for fertility of land. We shared our thought about how to reduce pollution of tiny plastic materials. But I couldn't convince them not to burn plastics, they didn't agree with my view. I hope one day they will learn and apply in practice about plastic burning. Interesting fact is they were very shy for the photo ;) but they are very helpful and adoptive for new positive things. |

Hello Bal krishna
What a nice program you organized here!
I partially understand that those villagers don't agree with stopping the way they dispose the plastics wastes, which is by burning them. This is why the awareness of the people is important, and why people should be familiar with the environmental issues from their early ages. Therefore I can see some kind of connection between your programs, and I'm sure those villagers will be aware of it one day.
Thank you for the great report!

Hey Bal!
It's Lisa.
Before anything, I think it's really cute how they were shy of taking a photo haha.
I think you have done a great job and I really like how you didn't just pour them with information that are too complicated or that seems too far away from their lives. Instead, you talked about something that they can actually practice for real like separating trash! It's really important that people start feeling the need of discussing environmental problems and I can see that you've successfully convince people into taking an interest.
Great work and keep it up dear:)
