Despite being the desert nation the per capita daily use of Water in UAE is between 250-550 liters. The international average is a mere 170-300 liters. Same goes for Power consumption, UAE resident uses 20-30 kilowatts a day as compared with the international average of 15 kilowatts. There is a scope of reducing this consumption by educating the population.

I am giving below some useful tips to save Electricity & Water:

Tips To Save Electricity:

1.    Increasing your air-conditioner?s thermostat temperature setting by 1? can reduce energy use by up to 6 per cent

2.    Keeping windows and curtains closed in the hottest part of the day improves cooling efficiency in your home

3.    You need to turn on the water heater only half an hour before showering and still have plenty of hot water

4.    Replacing incandescent bulbs with energy-efficient ones can save you up to 80 per cent on lighting costs

Tips To Save Water:

       1.       Avoid using a free-flowing hose when washing your car. Three buckets of water are enough to do the job

       2.       Watering your garden in the early morning or by the late evening reduces evaporation and saves water

       3.       Shortening your shower by two minutes can save you up to 500 litres of water every month

       4.       Turning off the tap while you are brushing your teeth can save more than 100 litres of water every month

These are very simple tips & each reader can follow them to reduce the burden on the nation?s resources.

This will be a great Environmental help to conserve the resources & save our mother earth for future generations.

Thanks for reading.
