Traffic System in Dhaka & Loss of Electricity |

In Dhaka City million BDT was spent to control traffic system. The authority used Digital Intersection Timer machines in the city. But in reality there are no use of this system. Still now traffic police are controlling every signals manually. Signals from traffic police and from the Digital Traffic system has no similarity. Police still control traffic signal with the use of conventional system. They use manual command, whistle etc. But they failed to reduce traffic jam in the road. On the other hand the million BDT system has no use. This system requires a certain amount of electricity. The electricity used in the system are taken sometimes from the main grid and sometimes from the solar panel. But the matter of sorrow is the digital system is running but traffic police themselves dont follow the signals. Dhaka City Corporation took funding of 2.5 billion BDT (3.2 million dollar) to install modern traffic signal lights. But those traffic signal lights have no use. This is a total wastage of money and electricity.  The world is in crisis due to global warming. In this critical situation we have to be much aware of using electricity. We know electricity cost a big amount of carbon di oxide. We should not waste any amount of energy that could be a threat for our future generation. I as an environmental activist want to drag attention of the Dhaka City Corporation to stop wasting electricity. Please use those traffic signal lights properly otherwise please stop feeding electricity in the useless system. |

Agree with you and well pointed , Asadullahil. If so much money is spent on these Digital Traffic control systems then they better be fully utilised . Thanks for sharing. Did you raise this to the concerned authorities through local newspaper ?

Yes, Asadullahil, we all agree with you. First spend so much money in Digital Traffic system & then make it redundant.
They may install cameras to catch the offenders & carry on using Digital Traffic system. That can save manpower.
