The use of plastics and its effects on the Environment |
---|
The environment in which we find ourselves needs to be favourable. Things used in the environment can make it good or unfavourable for all living things. Plastic papers are good for human usage but at the same time have greater negative effects on the environment. In human beings it causes cancer, it destroys the intestines of animals and crops cannot grow on plastics since they are not degradable. Also, water sources are blocked fro m the ground by plastics. The government of our country resolved to stop the use of plastics following results from researchers and support from environmentalists. CAMGEW at our local level is also fighting the use of plastics through radio programs. CAMGEW is working and showing examples to other community members as all the polythene pots which we use for nursing tree seedlings are all carried out of the forest after tree planting exercises. Burning of the plastics as we do is only because at the local level we have no technology to recycle the plastics. |

Thanks for highlighting plastic pollution in the environment which adversely affects wildlife, wildlife habitat, and humans. It can adversely affect lands, waterways and oceans. Plastic pollution has the potential to poison animals, which can then adversely affect human food supplies.
But I am concerned about practice of burning plastic at your place . Burning plastic is dangerous to humans and the environment. When plastic burns, many dangerous chemicals are created . These include dioxins and furans which can cause cancer and respiratory disease. As well, the ash produced from burning material that contains plastic could be hazardous. This cannot be spread on the soil or dumped in your waste bin.
You must raise this issue to local municipalities and try to get some recycling facilities in place.
