Relationship Between Conversation and Development |

Development of a country requires economic growth, which in turn, requires increased production of consumer goods and agricultural products. Higher industrial and agricultural outputs, no doubt, bring prosperity, but result in environmental (air, water and land) pollution and depletion of resources. More and more forest area is being brought under industry and agriculture. This change in ecosystem upsets ecological balance, adversely affecting organisms, including man. It should be kept in mind that environment and biotic communities are interacting complementary units of an ecosystem. Hence, maintenance of environment is essential for life.
Both economic development and conservation of nature (environment and resources) are necessary for the improvement of human lot. The former improves the material aspect of human life, whereas the latter improves the material, ecological and aesthetic aspects. Another difference between the two is that the benefits of economic development accrue quickly, but those of conservation programme become evident slowly and over a long period. Conservation programme should be given more importance than economic programme in development because the former is essential for the very existence of mankind whereas the latter only improves quality of life. Ecologists and conservationists must be associated with the people who prepare plans for the development of the country's industry and agriculture. |

Rightly reported Dharmendra & well commented Sadam.
We all think of present only. If money is filling the pockets no one cares about environment. But, we may give the example of UAE that is making great strides in Both economic development and conservation of nature.
We are proud to be in UAE.

" Conservation programme should be given more importance than economic programme in development "
I agreed with you about what you say , but unfortunately in My country there is no such strategy as an example of Oil and Gas Companies in Yemen , If you visit their field of production you will say the gas and smoke going up to the Air and the garbage or the unneeded outcomes goes out to the see and kills the life their .
they just care about their production and profit while they dont care about the environment and the life of others .

To avoid the negative environmental impacts of economic development, strong emphasis should be given on sustainable development. Thanks for sharing, Dharmendra.

I agree that we shouldn't left the environmental issues out of our concern. In Thailand, we are trying to re-grow the forest that was cut both legally and illegally. I believe that the development can't be sustain if we completely ignore nature. I mean, ecology still hold a great influence over our life after all. :)
