Dewa offices to have charging stations for electric cars

by Arushi Madan | 08-09-2014 21:31 recommendations 0

As a part of "Smart Dubai " concept and in line with Dubai's vision to become one of the most sustainable cities by 2020 , DEWA(Dubai Electricity & Water Authority) has announced setting up of charging stations for electric cars in 6 of their offices initially and over 100 charging stations in a span of 2 years.

Though electric cars do not need the normal maintenance works required by the internal combustion cars, long hours of charging them is a big concern among users. Easy access to charging stations across the emirate is expected to prompt car users to switch to electric cars, thereby reducing the energy consumption and pollution in Dubai.

Good news. I love electric cars. You can see some in action @ Masdar city Abu Dhabi. They are automatic, programmed & driverless.

Best of /luck Dubai to become Smart city by 2020. its a great approach when the fear of extinction of pertoleum products looms around.
if we canease the availability of the charging centres for electric vehicles, certainly people will opt for such veichles.
hope such cars get popular among other countries like ours aw well

As such, hybrid cars are quite a few in Dubai. Still, the move is welcome. Charging station are definitely required.
I hope, durable electric cars are introduced which runs more distance on a single charge & charge quickly as well.

It is really a great way to overcome fuel crisis, and I am glad to know that although Dubai being rich in fuels is implementing this sort of program. Dubai citizens and government deserves appreciation for their approach towards sustainable efforts for greener environment.
