Environmental Exhibition visited by thousands of students By now we all know, that the United Nations General Assembly has declared the year of 2014 as The International Year of Small Island Developing States. In accordance with this slogan, United Nations Environment Program s theme for the World Environment Day was also Raise your voice, not the sea level, which put the most emphasize on climate change issue. I have extensively worked to share and promote reducing food waste and landfills. Many students from UAE and several Eco-generation Members and my dear friends have also joined me to visit the landfills and waste composting sites to plant trees including Arushi Madan, Rohan Kapur, Raunak Kapur, Humaid Habib, Mohamad Zoheb, Unmesh to name a few. I recently traveled to India to participate in a very motivating and successful Exhibition and the Award Ceremony held in Ahmedabad aimed to appreciate and acknowledge good work not only to motivate the doer but also for provide an opportunity to learn for the thousands of students who visited and enthusiastically attended the exhibition. The event was organized by Centre for Environment Education (CEE), beautifully built on a natural sand dune. Out of a total of 2500 schools who participated and submitted their entries, a National Committee comprising of eminent experts in the field of education, environmental education, and environmental solutions shortlisted 15 schools, 14 teachers and 15 students for the Paryavaran Mitra Puraskar, who were also invited to exhibit their work. Ranging from efficient use of Solar power, to reducing vehicular congestion, waste management and solutions to climate change, I proudly exhibited and shared the work visited by hundreds of students, teachers and eminent environment personalities. Here I share some proud and happy moments and inspirational work by many schools and students. |
