JUNIOR ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION

by | 12-11-2014 00:27 recommendations 0

Environmental Conservation is an important lesson that should be taught at a junior age which means everyone as youth leader should lead by example. After all, if we don?t who will?

This is why on the 8th of November, my partner Keoleboge Tsheko, my fellow conservationists from the Environmental Conservation Society (ECS) and I, decided to take responsibility by going to Boitumelo Primary School (a nearby local school) to educate the young ones about the importance of tree planting to the environment. We did this by preparing several seedling beds for them as a way to embrace their agriculture syllabus in their school curriculum.

This also served as an educational event for me for I met a few youngsters who have creative ideas when recycling. I met a boy who made a mini car with only wires, strips of elastic rubber and rusted cool drink cans. He explained to me that he personally went to the dumping area and decided to collect the ?scraps? to build his car. (Photo attached)

I guess there are a million ways to get conserve our environment, as long we realize the importance of it at a young age.

Working hard :)Keoleoge Tsheko and Ithe young man and hi carAll of us

Well said Tefo that environment education should be imparted as part of school curriculum so that children from young age are well aware of environment , it's current issues , their responsibility in conserving it. You did a real good job by teaching these young minds the tree plantation which is the most efficient way of reducing carbon footprint. Thanks for sharing .

    Thanks for the report, Tefo.
The car & the Kid both are cool! Well done.
Tree plantation & caring for the same afterwards is life giving for us only as we survive on oxygen emitted by trees.
    Keep it up mate.
