Women, womenism, feminine, feminism!

The term feminism is quite a controversial one coined from the theme, a collection of movements aimed at defining, establishing, and defending equal political, economic, and social rights and equal opportunities for women though. Today, feminism is counted as the over smartness of woman, and the curse of high education as well. As a result, whenever a feminine tries to open her mouth for her equal rights, either her neck is squeezed off or she?s simply kicked off from the society, with a title feminist. It?s horrible that the only species with the quality of giving birth to a child, is considered only to be the kept of a man.

In this modern era, when Noble Prizes are being given to the feminine to encourage them for achieving the summit of success, the post noble prize scenario is quite a different. As an example, we can mention the claim of Shirin Ebadi, the noble prize winner, "Threats against my life and security and those of my family, which began some time ago, have intensified?. This reflects an indication of the circumstance of a woman in this modern age.

Violance against woman is another burning issue these days, drawing the attention of civil society. This includes physical and mental torture, acid throwing, eve teasing or sexual harassment, and a many more. Mostly prominently visible is the domestic violance, widely known as "Intimate Partner Violence". To be very honest to thyself, one should admit that there is hardly any place, any society, any family where the women are treated just like they need to be. The impact of domestic violence in the sphere of total violence against women can be understood through the example that 40-70% of murders of women are committed by their husband or boyfriend. Silly us!!! To still assume that woman are provided with their rights, rights of life!!! In the US, in 2005, 1181 women, in comparison with 329 men, were killed by their intimate partners. In England and Wales about 100 women are killed by partners or former partners each year while 21 men were killed in 2010. In 2008, in France, 156 women in comparison with 27 men were killed by their intimate partner. These statictics are a matter of apprehention that if such scenario goes on, the day is not too far when faminine will turn back to their previous position when they were confined between the four walls of the house. Bride burning, child marriage, mental torture, physical assault, murder of pregnant feminine, forcing to abort child, all these are different criteria of domentic violance. Another specific arena is the Mob Violance. Regarding this Amnesty International mentioned, "most women are sexually abused or are being targeted not just because they are women, but because they are single or they are economically independent." This type of violance includes eve teasing, acid throwing, dowry system, rape and many more. In response to suicide of a feminine, I must add that according to statistics, though the suicide rate of faminine are a bit less then that of male, yet most of the suicide cases of women are the reflection of the torture of men, while the male suicide cases mostly  take place for frustration, unemployment, drug addiction, etc. This is another indication of the women status in the society. And when we have a cast on the arena of prostitution, it?s simply desustrous. Many  are forced to choose this profession while a few do it as a passtime.

I do think and strongly believe that before asking for rights, feminine should firstly ensure their security to live peacefully in the society. At first they should be fit enough to survive and strong enough to sustain life, then they should go for their equal rights. They should first recognise themselves as the FEMININE, then they should gain public awareness and make  their position strong enough to fight for their rights. Otherwise, the individuals, speaking for their rights in random, will continue to be known as  STUBBORN FEMINISTS and get kicked off from the society.

First of all : I appreciated the fact that you wrote about such issue, it is a nice and refreshing break / twist :)
Feminism, in my opinion at least is a very important subject that prevents societies from developing if done in a wrong way/manner. The descrimination against women for the biological differences or the simple notion that they are unable to take the lead is completely ridiculous and we have many realistic examples to back that up . In my country, Tunisia, women have the same rights as man and we are starting to see the benifits of such decisions .
    Thank you for sharing :)

Great post, thanks for sharing! Feminism has been misinterpreted put down for decades I'm happy to see so many people in my age group fighting for equality! Neither gender is superior to one another, therefore both men and women should be equal.

Hey Tapashi, insightful post :) I would like to add, we girls/ women are thrown back, deprived of opportunities and rights just because we are allowing men to do so. I am back just because I don't try to go forward. So to ensure our rights we should struggle ourself :) because we share half of the world's space and population :)

I really like your statement "Feminism is counted as the over smartness of woman, and the curse of high education as well" . This is what society considers feminism as many a times. I participated in National newspaper online debate on this such a debatable topic"feminism" . Pl refer to link :
    http://gulfnews.com/opinions/your-say/focus-feminism-1.1158705
While on one hand we say females should be given equal rights , on other hand , offering seats to females is considered preferential treatment to females , offering them lower salaries is biased against them so practically women can NEVER have equal rights, Because they are more fragile , sensitive mentally and physically so they need to have better privileges/rights and women too should jutsify that if given opportunity they can shine. Women should be given proper respect and woman alone should NOT be considered opportunity but should be considered responsibility.

Feminism - belief in EQUALITY of sexes. Another word for "belief that women should be treated better than men should be thought of. And equality here is meant from political, social and economical aspect.

Well put Tapashi..indeed there is hardly a place where women are treated the way they deserve to be treated. It is unfortunate that to this day women are first judged on the basis of being a woman, before being considered in any other way. Be it education, business or a career, the female human is first subjected to initial judgement on the basis of being just that.. female/feminine/woman. This must stop.

Women should never be criticized for standing up for their rights! By endeavoring to achieve gender equality, we are protecting both genders' rights!
I believe you have watched Emma Watson's speech at the UN? What do you thing about it?

Thanks for the post. Its sad too see such condition still prevail in 21st century. Having said this, we can't deny the closing gender gap and women empowerment nowadays( which is totally motivating). now a days, in our university and colleges. we have almost equal number of male and female students enrolling in University. We are proud most of today's parents treat children equally. :)

Good insight, Tapashi. Isn't it really silly that women is subject to be blamed just for pursuing 'the equal right as the same human being'? Level of respect on women can work as a good indicator shows the level of development in any society.
