Wildlife week celebration |

Every year we celebrate wildlife week here at my University starting from our Nepali new year marking the importance of wildlife.Which not only limits on wildlife but other environmental issues too.We have different green organizations here and which are combined together and called as Green Groups of IOF(GGI).GGI organizes a series of events for a week which includes different activities related to awareness and conservation.This year too we celebrated Wildlife week with the theme"Wildlife and Water : From the mountains to the rivers to the oceans" The events were as follows:- Day 1 A rally was organized including the students as well as professors whose main objective was to give conservation message to the people.It covered distance from Ratnachowk to hallanchowk,Lakeside Pokhara. Activity 2 :- Flash Mob After the rally ended we just dispersed and the flash mob team started their dance on the roadside,the dance also ended with a beautiful message about antipoaching.In the dance,paper mask were used to represent different animals. Activity 3 :- Street Dramma Last activity of the day was street drama,it was made focusing on importance of biodiversity it's importance and need for conservation. Day 2 Sanitation:- On this day sanitation programme was held in the University premises and surrounding.Students as well as the local people participated in the event. Day 3 Community Teaching:- On this day community teaching was done.It included environmental awareness mainly focusing the harmful impacts of plastics and it's alternative. Day 4 Speech Competition:- The speech competition was on the topic "Wildlife and Water : From the mountains to the rivers to the oceans".The first year student were given main priority. Day 5 Quiz Competition:- Intra college quiz competition was held.It's focus was to increase knowledge on biodiversity and conservation.It included different rounds including questions to the audience. Day 6 Bird Watching:- Bird watching was done in the forest(Rani Ban) along Fewa Lake.The participants were given information on identification of bird and use of binocular. Day 7 Presentation and wrapping up:- The presentation were on following topics:- 1) Solid waste management:Income generation,Environment and Biodiversity. By lecturer:Suman Bhattarai 2) Ecology and conservation of Ganges river Dolphin in the Karnali river of Nepal.By:-Gopal Khanal(student) 3) Documentry on the wildlife week.By GGI team After the presentation prize were distributed to the winners of the speech and quiz which was followed by remarks from the guests.The prize were wrapped in world newspaer and Peepal Leaves were used as Badge(you can see in the iind picture).And it ended with closing speech. |

A lot of people reject the idea of wildlife due to some wrong information and the general thoughts that its associated with dangers and unwanted harsh environments, but this programs seems to put that perspective in peace and work on getting the youth involved in it :)
