On the 9th of May this year, Braeside?s Eco-school committee and ICC club came together with a brilliant idea of having a bake sale in order to raise funds for the tree-planting in Ngong Forest this Saturday, 2nd of June.
There were loads of goodies to buy; cakes, cookies, french fries, samosas, sweets, brownies and cupcakes to say the least.
At the end of the day they had raised about USD 170 which is enough to buy more than 300 trees that will be planted in the Ngong forest.
Ngong Forest is only 6km away from the Nairobi city centre making one of the few indigenous forests located within a city. It is therefore very vulnerable to encroachment, deforestation and pollution.
I am therefore excited that Braeside will be a part of saving the Ngong Forest and the numerous species of animals and plants that live within it by planting trees.
