MY WED 2012 ACTIVITY:

?Small effort to make my area tobacco free but it leads to a big change?

Tobacco is the single greatest cause of preventable death globally. Tobacco use leads most commonly to diseases affecting the heart and lungs, with smoking being a major risk factor for heart attacks, strokes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (including emphysema and chronic bronchitis), and cancer (particularly lung cancer, cancers of the larynx and mouth, and pancreatic cancer).

Apart from this we conclude the disadvantages of tobacco shortly as,

¿span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman"">         Lung Cancer & Health Problems.

¿span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman"">         Permanent cough develops.

¿span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman"">         Count on cigarettes for all your problems.

¿span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman"">         Addiction.

¿span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman"">         Replaces good breathe with Smokey breathe.

¿span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman"">         Some people and friends look at you differently.

¿span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman"">         Not the best when you?re having a relationship with a non-smoker.

¿span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman"">         Loose interest in sport.

¿span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman"">         Family looses trust in you & gives you big lectures.

As our point of view, as an environmentalist, the smoke from cigarette affect the surroundings and those who are near the smoker also affected more by that smoke even he is not smoking.  This is one of the main reasons for increasing  Global Warming.

So this year I have taken my WED project against tobacco.  I have started my journey on 31.05.2012 from Mayiladuthurai with my grandfather and issuing pamphlets (Total Number: 1000) in the bus stand. I have issued pamphlets to the shop keepers around the bus stand, drivers, conductors, passengers, students and to the public too.  I request all ?don?t throw away after reading it and show wherever you go and in your own place?.  One lady she is a leader of NGO, she replied? ?Don?t worry I have taken more copies in my town and circulated to all the houses and she assured me that Changed her town as tobacco free one? and continue my journey up to 03.06.2012 in Chidambaram and issue 1000 pamphlets and pasted on walls etc.

Every year on 05.06.2012 I have taken awareness classes in any one of the school and planted saplings and donated saplings.  This year my school reopens on 04.06.2012, so I finished my WED project on 03.06.2012 in the public but I have done the work in my school itself by closing taps, switch off lights and fans when not in used.  My friends also joined with me.
