Special filter for carbon reduction |

While I was on my school trip to a nearby research lab, I noticed something, that I do everyday, but in a different manner. Sitting at the side right window, my eyes were just focused on a nearby bus's exhaust. Every time we stopped and accelerate again, a huge amount of black smoke was getting emitted out of the bus. Our lab visit was to understand the working of different chemicals. At the time, I had a meeting with the head of the lab. We discussed about the morning event. And I started to ask him about any measures he knows to stop it. While he was brilliant, I was at my stake too. He shared his enthusiastic feeling, I, my ideas. After 3 hours of long conversation, we came up with a new measure. To protect the environment from carbon and it's constituent particles, we thought to build a special type of filter. This filter would work on the principle of reducing power of highly oxidised elements. According to theory, zinc can attract carbons from compounds when the other elements are less powerful. This filter could be fitted into the exhausts of vehicles and could be used to attract carbon particle from smokes. Thus releasing only Eco friendly gases. Though, it has some cons also. Since zinc is not only settled at carbon, it can also attract other elements. And, if the effect of the other is more than carbon, the filter can consequently fails. But considering the present engine capacity, it's dimension and working principle, it's much output is of the form of carbon. The filter would result in a cost effective product, since zinc can be found at a valuable rate and it's very powerful. When planted in the filter, it can be used for a long time. The basic usage mechanism would be like, the filter will work for the whole day or for half of the day and then it would be needed to get cleaned with special type of liquid to get rid of the carbon. Then the filter would be placed again for usage. The carbon release can be also used for several purpose. Since deforestation is at the top, the carbon found, can be injected into the soil to increase the fertility. The liquid used to clean the filter can be reused again and again. It will be non missible with carbon and can be filtered out safely. Since the city where I lived in not well developed, though it has got some of the great minds, it's difficult for me to lead forward the research and implement the idea. Those who are reading this and have access to better resources, please do share this idea with everyone. And if everyone persist, I could even start a mass production of this product.

It sounds good theoretically but would have to be tested & tried for practical effectiveness and feasibility. I appreciate your idea & brain behind it , Thanks for sharing , well done , Basu.

Special filter is such an innovative concept Basu, it needs better resource and extension for implication in broader scale

Seems to be an excellent Idea Basu.
It needs thorough study & testing of the prototypes on vehicles before the mass production actually takes place.
Please share some drawings / sketches of this proposed filter.
