New born Eco Generation 2
Last month, I have attended the voluntary activity called Pun Ruk Hai Pen Tua (Growing Love). You can read my articles "New born Eco Generation 1 at https://tunza.eco-generation.org/ambassadorReportView.jsp?viewID=10730
I am inspired by being part of Eco-generation so I put an effort to further my duty as Regional Ambassador to run an Eco-activity. I went to a local school nearby my house which I and my sister usually go to do story-telling. This time, I decide to extend the Eco-generation promoting and spreading an eco-vision through my new activity call "We can help to protect the environment."
There were about 30 students in grade 2 attending my activity. They were separated into two groups in order to provide more concentration and easier for me to manage the class. I have to do the same activity twice. I asked my sister to come along and help me in story-telling part. This was my activity plan:
1. Talk about nature: The meaning and the importance.
2. Share Ideas: What types of trees that you plant at home, How you associate with your trees or plants.
3. Story-Telling about the interdependence between animals and nature to create a balance relationship together.
4. Group's drawing: How can you help to protect the environment?
5. Group presentation: We can help to protect the environment by........
The whole plan took about 2 hours for each class. Students in grade 2 are very naive and know nothing about Global warming. I first approach them by playing games "calling the name of tree that you know". They could name so many types of tree and mostly the ones that give them fruits. However the big tree that they like to climb up and swing its branches, they hardly know the name. I taught them to get to know more about the importance of nature through story-telling and art activity. We had fun doing some roles plays. They were interested in story-telling the most. Then I divided them into groups and asked them a question "If you would like your big tree to be with you forever, what will you do?" Their answers were so variety from watering the tree and hugging it to singing a song to it. I guided them more about how using fabric bag instead of plastic ones, turning off the light switch and water tap every time after using are so important to us. After giving them some ideas, I let them draw picture to sum up what they have learnt today and how they could help to protect the environment. Lots of ideas were drawn into the paper and presented to the whole class. Some said we should go to school by bicycle instead of car and some said that we should have pet like Godzilla to light fire in order to warm their family in winter instead of using electricity.
After the activity, I presented TUNZA Eco-Generation's leaflets to class teacher and gave her the promotional goods pens, post-its, scales and my business cards. She shown me her class recycle art projects and the school separated bins for recycle bottles. I always believe that a little change we all made each day will help to save the world. Well, this is my first step in conducting the environmental activity as being a Regional Ambassador of Thailand. :)
P.S.>>>> Dear Eco-Generation team, For my next activity, I will get ready to request for your promotion goods. :P

Thanks for commenting! We sure have had a good time! I wish I can do this more often though:) The kids are so naive and I like to make them laugh and teach (lead) into the right way.

A good approach for educating kids to raising awareness of the environment. I recommend to use method of playing games, related to environmental education, because children are tend to remember more from fun things they had such as playing games. A great job indeed Jaidee keep it up!

The segregation bins is an excellent idea Swasamon. Well done!
It is said that if you teach them young they will carry it for life.
I'm sure that same will happen with these beautiful young children, whom you introduced Tunza Eco-Gen platform.
