Tea Garden in Sylhet, Bangladesh

Who doesn't know about tea? In our every regular life, without tea its just impossible!!! So now time to know about the land of tea in Bangladesh.
Sylhet is the land of tea garden in Bangladesh. It is located in north-east Bangladesh about 270KM far from Dhaka City. It has the total area of more than 26.50 km2. Total Sylhet is not for tea culture rather a specific place is there which is known as the heart of tea plantation of Bangaldesh. Srimongal which is the heart of tea garden in Bnagladesh is about 191km far from Dhaka. Srimongal has total area of 54 hectors and the number of total tea estates is 163. There are about 3 lakhs (0.3 million) of people are working there surprisingly about 75% of the workers are female. Their main work is to collect leaves from the tea tree and carry those to the factories.

In Bangladesh there are various kinds of tea. At first, the black tea which is from the fully fermented tea leaves. To make it more delicious milk and sugar is added.

Then comes the green tea which is from the unfermented leaves. It?s too good to health as it has some vitamins and polyphenol which has some medicinal advantages.

The most widely used tea is instant tea.  It was first developed in 1930's. but it was first commercially introduced by Nestle in 1946. To make it more delicious people add here milk and sugars and many other things like vanilla, color etc.

The most amazing tea is the Tea with seven layers, which is found in Srimangal, Sylhet. It has seven layers which contains sevens tastes. No necessary all the taste comes from the tea garden. It actually depends on the customers, which flavor he or she likes most.

Tea is one of the most major export items in Bnagladesh. Actually it is the second main export oriented cash crop of Bangladesh. If we look to the past data the exported amount of tea in Bangladeh was about 14 million Kg and earned 934 million taka in 2004 but from 2005 it falls down for the very competitive world. But this country is taking new steps to save this cash crop.

I really enjoyed reading it as I am a big fan of green tea.
Do you like lavender tea? I have a surprise for you. I thought that lavender tea is extracted from lavender but actually its a variation of green tea with the lavender fragrance on it. (Surprise!)

Thanks for introducing Srimangal, Sylhet with beautiful pictures of lush green tea gardens. I learnt from you today that various kinds of teas are actually derived at different fermentation stages. Interesting!
