Humanity is at the dawn of a global energy revolution that is capable of altering the way we perceive power generation.
The UAE Clean Energy industry is also transforming and adopting new strategies side-by-side this "energy revolution". It is now taking a more holistic approach to the changing realities of power generation and consumption around the world.
Everything done will now be grounded in what is feasible, given financial and technical constraints. This will result in better technology, thereby enabling healthier returns.
The main agenda is to advance the sustainable technologies and clean energy industry via education, research, development, investment, commercialisation and adaptation.
It is often said that the UAE has enough hydrocarbon reserves to last beyond 100 years!!!
The common question would be-
"So why does the nation still want to become a global centre of excellence in renewable energy and clean technologies?"
Well, the region has a very good reason to do so.
With a culture tied to life in the harsh and unforgiving desert, the region well realises the lessons of traditional desert living, where sustainable practices and resource conservation were essential for survival. Therefore, it understands the tremendous challenges posed by climate change, environmental degradation and sustainable energy sources.
Masdar (based in the capital Abu Dhabi) plays a vital role in the Clean Energy industry of the UAE. The Masdar initiative is based on the principle that the energy systems and solutions of tomorrow will have their origins in development programmes of today. It also focusses on commercial viability of changing technologies as well. By doing all this,
Masdar (meaning "the source" in Arabic) will become a well-spring of solutions that benefit not only its shareholders but also the sustainability of UAE and the planet as a whole.
Lets hope this change in strategy of the county's Clean Energy sector is for the best!

Thank you for sharing the insightful article. I think it's very clever choice of UAE government moving forward to advanced energy sourcing. It's closely related with who will take the leading position in the future industry. And it seems that UAE nailed it so far.

Dear Manav, no doubt UAE is leading ahead in disseminating wide ranges of sustainable clean energy. (I wish I could have experience living there for some time)
I would like to get updates on the Masdar and its achievements in coming days too :)

Yes , Manav , there can not be any other nation better than UAE to understand the significance of clean energy to mitigate climate change. UAE being the desert.
Masdar has committed more than $1.7 billion (U.S.) to renewable energy developments. We have high hopes from Masdar .
Thanks for sharing .
