Caring of environment, Conservation, 3R?s are as individual as they are community efforts. The hard working efforts of one person motivates others to carry out similar activities. I have put up many reports of my individual efforts that have transformed into bigger scale group efforts & multiple community events motivated from the individual environmental tasks. Reducing, Reusing & recycling are the part & parcel of modern technological era. There is no dearth of opportunities for these tasks, only willingness is important. Sometimes it is the first step that counts which encourages contribution & mass participation. During one such mass event [Lulu Walk for wellness, took place last month] thousands of people participated. As usual, they were offered healthy snacks, fruits, Drinks & water from the organisers. The water was the most consumed item among all, therefore it created most of the litter around. I picked up a recycle bag & began collecting empty plastic bottles for recycling. I collected a lot & soon my bag was full. During the course of all this happening, I noticed a young lad doing the similar activity. He was collecting empty plastic bottles in a bag. I approached him & asked a few questions from him & his parents who were also around. He was a Kindergarten Student of a reputed school in Dubai. And the bottles he was collecting were for depositing with the recyclable collection center of the Emirates Environmental Group [EEG] in Dubai. Immediately I started helping him collect the bottles & together we filled his bag as well with empty plastic bottles. I thanked him profusely for this noble cause and asked him whether he was aware of Tunza Eco-Generation. He was not and then I gave him my business card & explained in detail about the amazing platform of Tunza Eco-Generation where he can share his Environmental activities & can motivate others. I told him that he is indeed carrying out a wonderful activity & I told his parents also to encourage him in these activities as this will help conserve & protect the environment in true sense. This was my tryst with recycling at Lulu walk for wellness & I thought I must share the same at this platform so that it motivates others to do the same. Thanks for reading. Pictures are attached. |

@ Arushi, Thanks. I wish to clarify that youngsters are not involved in cleaning the litter. Its the job of municipality & they are doing a wonderful job of keeping the city neat & clean.
Responsible youngsters are trying their best to take care of mother Earth by just picking up clean & empty bottles from the grass. If they are thrown in the bins then they will go to landfills which will create burden on the Ecological system.
It is just a humble service to the Mother Earth & many more are now inspired by such acts.
No hard feelings at all, just putting the fact right my dear friend.
