Every drop counts

Water is that precious resource without which, we cannot imagine our lives. There is no substitute for water. On an average, a person uses 80-100 gallons of water per day for various purposes like washing, showering, brushing etc.
Yesterday, while I was on the way to school, sitting on the window side of my bus, I saw a kid who of about 8, trying to stop the water flowing continuously from a tap. It was very surprising for me as in India, one rarely sees a 8-year old taking the initiative to do such a thing.
You can find many places where the tap is running with water and there is no one concerned enough to stop it. One of the problems is that the tap is broken. There is no way to turn it off unless you block it with a piece of clothing or put buckets under it so that the water isn't wasted.
Several times I have turned the taps off but it does become difficult to turn off a broken tap. Imagine the amount of water wasted!
People take the nature and it's resources for-granted. They don't feel any sense of responsibility over these things. They forget that it's us who are dependent on nature and if we don't use the resources judiciously and properly, a day will come when we'll regret wasting every single drop of water .
In India, organisations like Water Aid and WOTR are working for the conservation of water. I, on my level, do work to preserve water and I'm planning to hold a campaign for public awareness.

A kid of about 8, trying to stop overflowing tap water sounds encouraging. This clearly shows the readiness of new generation to take responsibility for saving natural resources. It's our duty to inspire them with our actions. Yeah every drop counts, save water save life!
    Thanks for sharing Yagya :)

Contrary to its simple molecular structure and constituent, water plays paramount importance in our life. Almost 3/4th of our body itself is water.

Yagya -Thanks for highlighting the issue here. Yes , I agree with you and I observe the same at many places during my vacation visit to India . It's pity that so many countries do not have enough water and here water is being wasted .
I like the concept of timer built taps like in many western countries , in korea , China , Hong Kong and even here in UAE as well , taps automatically turn off after a fixed time -that at least avoids water wastage.
You are doing a good job in your capacity.
