Punn Plook Pa

Today, I have a good news for environmental activists! The mayor of Chainat (Thailand province), Sitthipong Juljaroen, has made a new move in protecting environment. It's called the ?Go Go Green Save The Earth, Save The Kayai Mountain? event which was under the campaign ?Punn Plook Pa?.

The main problem is that people have been invading the forest area and chopping down trees for their own benefits. So, this year, to celebrate the 60th of princess Sirindhorn of Thailand, he decided to make a change. By creating the event that everyone can participate which aimed to turn Khao Kayai, the desert mountain, into paradise with diverse organisms to help it regain its abundancy. This campaign also aimed to reduce the problem of global warming and lift up life standards of the locals. The example of better living are safety, more Ozone and fresh air, more source for medicine, and so on.

The activity started at the beginning of the rainy season so weather can help boost the result. The campaign is to drive on bicycle into the forest or Khao Kayai and plant new trees! This is a very interesting campaign for it can affect the area including the locals dramatically.

1. The air will get fresher. More trees mean more fresh air and oxygen. I'm so glad Thailand has launched the environmental campaign that is not just some meeting or conference but actually get their hands on stuffs. Forest is one big factory of oxygen and sustaining forest means sustaining lives depending upon it. Throughout the process of photosynthesis, the locals will get better air and better health in return.

2. More trees mean more source of food and water. I have watched a documentary film basing on the origin of water way on Chiangmai mountain. The water seep out fro the soft soil beneath the tree roots. The water is so fresh and clean at the beginning that we can drink it straight from the lake without catching any diseases. Edible trees can also help to reduce the locals' money spent on food. They can literally make a living by living near the forest.

3. The campaign will give the locals more understanding of the concept of long term benefit. In short, they may think that chopping down trees will help with their life. So, the mayor tries to give them the idea that planting forest and adapt to live with nature without hurting it is more sustain than chopping down trees and get money in short. Once the forest is gone, who will provide us fresh air. Who will provide us fresh food and water? By cutting down trees, you kill millions of organisms thriving inside the forest. In the end, the act will eventually affect us if we don't stop hurting the nature right now.

4. The locals will have better nature and surroundings. In Thailand, the sun radiation I very strong especially I t he countryside. Planting more trees can help reducing the heat and light. In my opinion, I'd be more happy to wake up and see lots of trees int eh morning rather than seeing concrete towers towering my house. The change will affect them positively in every ways.

The locals seem happy to replant the new forest! Cycling is also a good exercise and even more useful when the campaign is added. It's not hard at all to replant the whole forest if we help together. The locals seem to have fun and realize their new role. They live near the forest and they're meant to keep the forest growing, not ruining it. In return, forest rewards them so many thing! They have food, water, fresh air, and shelter. Thank you mother earth :)

It's a really beautiful way to celebrate the princess's birthday, Swasamon. I know that royal family is very cherished by the people of Thailand. The idea making the barren mountain into abundant home to trees and people is brilliant. Thank you for the good news full of your insights and thoughts :-)

Great step taken by the Mayor of Chainat.
Deforestation is increasing in alarming rate every year converting many forest land into degraded land.Forest's are life ,they are regarded important by the most of the people mainly for the direct benefits like timber, fuel, fodder etc but they provide us more than that. Not only water, food, air to breathe, shade but they also store the toxic carbons released by us and our various activities. They are responsible for the major portion of carbon sequestration and present context this role of forest is vital. Thanks for sharing swasamon. :)

Nature is such a beauty that it forgives immediately & gives fruits in abundance.
Mark my words, within a short span, the forest will blossom again & their will be fresh air, fruits, shade & life again.
    Well reported, Swasamon
