World Environment Day Blog Competition

by | 19-05-2015 14:33 recommendations 0

Late last month, UNEP announced the beginning of this year's WED blog competition. The theme of this year's celebrations will be Seven Billion Dreams, One Planet, Consume with Care. Competitors were to write a blog post on that theme and the winner would go to Milan for the world celebration to cover and write about it. I decided to try my luck and gave it a go.

We have a duty as ambassadors to raise awareness on the effects of overconsumption of resources and wasteful use. We should encourage everyone to

  •    Reduce our consumption and amount of waste we produce
  •    Reuse products that can perform other functions after the initial is complete
  •    Recycle waste into new forms for use
  •    Rethink, change our attitude and consumption patterns
  •    Recover energy from waste
  •    Rebuy, purchase products made from recycled material

The three R's just got some company.. Let's raise awareness on the six R's and work together to save the environment.

Unfortunately, I did not win the competition. However I thought I would share my blog entry with you.

The link to my WED blog competition entry can be found here:

    Great article in deed.
Even single individual has countless dreams like you mentioned one day we imagine to be somehting and next day another. haha
Above all, we must make sure our dream benefits not only us but other human kind.
    :)

Winning is not so important , dear Aness. Participation is important , Thums up! for your participation and a great entry.
I like this year WED's theme , it speaks volumes about resource conservation.
We must mind our consumption. Mr. Gandhi has rightly said 'Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's needs, but not every man's greed.'

Yeah, exactly dear Aness. we all are dreamer and instead of dreaming merely big it is much important to dream sustainable. Though you couldn't make to win the competition this time, your effort and writing is so genuine. Better luck next time :)
