Waiting for Bangladesh to do something likely to change the sewerage water into drinkable water!

It was only a dream to me to recycle water to its fullest sense. In Bangladesh, there was a project launched to treat dirty water to turn into pure water. Water treatment machines were launched at Banglamotor. I won't say the project was a failure, but it wasn't as successful as it was intended to. Still the water may look crystal clear, yet it's odorous and contaminated.
However, the news caught my eyes today. Delhi could soon be quenching its thirst with drinkable water sourced from sewage! The first toilet-to-tap project at Keshopur was inaugurated on Thursday by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, where he drank the water treated by sewage plant to break the stigma attached to it.

The plant uses a bio-filtration Nano membrane filtration technology where the raw sewage is screened and then passes through five- layered biofilter. The treated sewage is then pumped into size 0.001 measuring micron membrane system where water is chlorinated and is made available for drinking. The project ?Sujala Dhara? launched by Delhi Jal Board in collaboration with an NGO Sana, will run on solar energy and can generate 25 million litres of water per year. In a positive effort to fight the ?yuck factor? attached with the sewage treated water, the plant water will be first supplied to Delhi Secretariat and offices of Delhi Jal Board.

Thank you for sharing the great news, Tapashi :D I feel much relieved because it's just a minute ago when I read Afra's posting regarding rapidly reducing ground water level reported by NASA. Thumbs up for the research team! If it gets popularized, it can help most areas stressed by water issue.

It is a great news that Delhi , one of the most polluted cities , has launched toilet to tap project for recycling the water. It will solve water shortage providing drinkable water. It is nice that "Sujala Dhara" will use solar energy and the product i.e. treated water will first be supplied to Delhi Secretariat and offices of Delhi Jal Board.., this will boost public's confidence in the treated water's quality.
Hope more and more cities follow suit.
    Thanks for sharing , Tapashi.

Wow! Sujala Dhara project in Delhi has done an incredible job by transforming sewerage water to drinkable water. I really liked the idea of inauguration by Delhi CM, when social heroes take the initiation its likely that public follow them.
Thank you for sharing this news dear Tapashi, hopefully countries over the world will be able to do so in coming days :)
