Students from Rio de Janeiro developed a device that can recharge mobile phones with the movement of the legs. It is called "Onix" and does not need any kind of connection with the electrical chain of the city.
It is very small and light. About 6, 5cm x 7, 0 centimeters and weight less than 500g.
The device is tied in around the knee level. It is connected with aluminum stalk until the leg level. So, every shake of the stalk transform kinetic energy into electrical energy. Whether the person walks about three hours, the battery can be completely filled up of energy.
I think that the invention is totally suitable to cooperate with a sustainable development that our planet is requiring. It can decrease so much greenhouses gas emission and negative impacts.
Hopefully, the idea will become popular among a lot of countries and it will support us to cure the world. |

Wowwww! ONIX converting kinetic energy to electrical energy. This is amazing device and of course I would love to have one.
Great to know that Arushi sister made a model toy car to prove it.
I can figure the immense potential of this kind of energy.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful invention dear Luiz :)

This kind of energy conversion-kinetic to electrical , has immense potential . I have read a lot about different , new ways of harnessing such conversion. I did a project as well where I wanted to prove that motion energy from moving cars in underground parking can be used to get clean energy. I made model /toy car to prove this. Here in UAE , in Green Middle East exhibition every year , exercise bikes are displayed where people can pedal the bike and generate energy.
Thanks for sharing interesting info, Luiz.

Great! Thumbs up for the youth inventors. I would love to have one. It will be an interesting trend among youngsters if it improves its weight and design. :D
