Marriage Anniversary Celebration of my Parents

by | 14-07-2015 21:02 recommendations 0

Dear Friends, as a 14th regional ambassador of Tunza Eco- generation I have shared many reports till date about the campaigns I organized and participated. This report is a bit different in a sense that it deeply attached to my emotions. Tunza Eco- generation is the second family I have got and connected with through my passion and this report introduces you all to my first family especially my parents.

My father Mr. Narayan Bhandari and mother Mrs. Goma Bhandari, 52 years and 49 years respectively are not well educated they can just read and write fairly. I have shared several reports about the events and campaigns I organized but being born as a girl in Nepalese society has certain challenges in self. During campaigns and meetings I need to travel different places alone, communicate with different persons, sometimes I return back late at night while leave very early other days, I don't make excuses for ritualistic days, weather, festivals and all as everyday is working/serving day for me. It may be shocking to many of you knowing that all these are prohibited in traditional Nepalese society for a young girl. Even many highly educated scholars stuck their young girl child within the boundaries of social dogmas. Fortunately, I am born to such parents who have always been there to cherish my dreams, to have faith in what I am doing and heed to my passion. Professionally they are workers in a government office they clean office, prepare and serve tea to staffs, deliver official parcel etc. When I was a kid, I used to lie saying my parents were doctors but as time elapsed they taught me how every work beholds respect and significance. Through them I have learnt what a successful team work, leadership and patience implies as they have raised our family of 9 members so well that people take it as an example in the society. At times and again we have faced multiple financial constraints but they never let me feel down. I have always been robust in my emotions and firm in determination as I can visualize the support of parents reflected in my shadow everywhere every time guiding me for positive thinking. I find no words to express my gratitude for what they have contributed and sacrificed in making me who I am at present.

Much happy news I want to share is the way my parents decided to celebrate their 35th marriage anniversary this year which falls on 2nd July. They planned to plant tree saplings in the fields of our original home which is located at a village nearly 1.25 hours away from where we live at present. Due to their work schedule and my classes we couldn't make plantation at the same day of anniversary so we fixed it for 9th July. On 9th July, my dad woke up early at 4.30am and he called us too. After taking bath and regular activities, we left at 5.15am along with 250 saplings (50 tied in a bundle) of Melia azedarach which is highly value for its timber and fodder. We own one bicycle and one motorbike so I rode the bicycle and parents rode the bike. Nearly at 6.30 am I reached the destination and parents had already been there. My uncle, aunt, grandfather, cousin brother and sister warmly greeted us and without making late we started the mission. We choose 3 fields which were not much productive and gave minimum yield. There were pumpkin and maize plants in 2 fields we planted saplings among them as this tree species have good adaptability even when grown among other species. After some months maize will be harvested and the land will be ploughed without disturbing the tree saplings. I, my parents, uncle, aunt, cousin sister and even my grand fathers of 87 years and 78 years participated as they were elated to see us planting. Nearly at 9am we accomplished plantation. It was such a fun and joyful to be together with family for a green cause. Time and again my father cracked jokes and made every of us laugh. Grandfather shared how healthy the green environment was at their young age and expressed their suffocation in this polluted present. My cousin sister served us tea and my uncle's family expressed commitment to take care of those saplings. With a promise to visit the field and check saplings progress at least once a month, we returned back with high spirits and absolute satisfaction.

This is how my parents celebrated their grand green marriage anniversary. And I want to dedicate this report to them who have been an epitome for love, compassion, respect and determination. They are my first role model and a source of inspiration. I found no such words in dictionary to express my gratitude towards them. With words I can only say THANK YOU my parents for everything you have done for me and especially I am so proud the way you celebrated your anniversary. Even without formal education you are the wisest person I have ever known and I can claim it proudly. By the time you would be reading this report, I would be reading it out loud translating in Nepali language in front of my parents. Trust me their smiles hearing your kind comments will be worth watching for me.

PS: This group picture below is taken in front of my original home and on the left are my parents, uncle and aunt at right with me and my 87 years old grandfather in the front

PS: To update you all I will be posting the pictures of the tree saplings after few months in my reports then

Belated happy anniversary to the most blessed and fortunate parents -the parents who are blessed with such an inspirational , achiever , noble , socially active and a very kind and talented girl like you. I salute you and your family for this wonderful celebration by planting 250 saplings. Thanks for a very emotional and well detailed report. Every time I read your report , I feel this is her best report /activity and next time you prove me wrong because you are always the best in whatever you do. I really wish I could get a chance to meet you and work with you .
Tree plantation is the best way to combat global warming so we should use every possible opportunity , festivals / important occasions like this to plant trees and make the days memorable in a green way. I , myself , plant tree on all my birthdays , Environment days , festivals . This year , in March, I and my parents planted 19 ghaf trees on their 19th wedding anniversary.
    Good job , Bindu di.
