Madhya Pradesh [India] - Home of world's cheapest Solar Power

Dear Eco-Generation friends,

I would like to share some great news concerning my motherland, India and the place where I am right now on vacations. Recently, I came across an interesting piece of fact  which stated that Madhya Pradesh, which is a state in India, officially uses the cheapest Solar power in the entire world, finally offering an extremely cost effective alternative to the environmentally harmful thermal power at just 5 Rupees ($ 0.08) per unit.

The Madhya Pradesh power management company has confirmed that they will now sell power at as less as 8 cents per unit for a period of over 20 years. The global average price for Solar energy is $0.10 and this is much less than that. Not only this, but India has seen a dramatic decline I. The prices of solar energy thus indicating that the environment is now something that people are concerned about, even in such a heavily populated country. In 2010, when the Jawaharlal Nehru Solar is ion was launched, a unit was costing $0.26.

Madhya Pradesh is also the possessor of India's Largest Solar power plant. The drop in prices is the effect of the import of Chinese Photovoltaic cells that are cost efficient and have led to a drop of 80% in prices of solar panels in the last five years.

Our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has announced a five fold increase in target for generating solar power  to 100,000MW. ALL states have revitalized their energy policies to make India safe, clean and green and one of the world's most sustainable environmental hubs.

Nowadays, it stands to be true that Solar is to Energy as Internet is to Communication. I am sure the time is not far when all of us will be writing out Tunza Eco Generation reports and posting them through a device that is run and /or charged completely on Solar Power!

Glad to know that solar power is being offered at such low price in Indian state MP. It's really very low. This kind of price makes solar energy the cheapest power source. Very narrow gap between the solar and conventional energy will create much needed boost in use of solar energy in many sectors. Thanks for updating us , Rohan.
