Waste cooking oil continues to be used as fuel |
---|
Many reports have been written at this forum regarding use of Bio-Diesel, but I feel that constant updation & sharing the latset developments is what we aim at this unique forum of Tunza Eco-Gen.
The efforts of UAE are always higlighted wherever the sustainability is promoted & this country has very high rapport in the world for Introduction & Promototion of new ideas in this field.
Friends, you might be aware that McDonald?s in the UAE is operating its entire fleet on Bio Diesel. It recycles the cooking oil used by its various restaurants & operates the trucks used to transport its material.
Now, Neutral Fuels is another company in Dubai that is the only company capable of obtaining cooking oil directly from the resataurants & than using a simple process, in a few days, makes it 100% Bio Diesel. This fuel can be used as a full replacement for normal diesel. Normal diesel is natural & is produced over milliions of years by the nature but this is man-made & is sustainable & we are cutting on the fossil fuels. It has a cutting edge over the natural diesel & does not require major modifications in the Engine. The used cooking oil is normally dumped as waste in drains or is disposed of as garbage which is totally Unhealthy, Polluting, Harmful in the long run & on the top of it is a burden on The Mother Earth. By recycling it we are making a two sided advantage. One is saving the waste, Another is avoiding the Fossil Fuels. So, I strongly feel that it must be encouraged & more countries may start using it. Already many countries in the world are using Bio Diesel obtained from used cooking oil & there is tremendous potential of increasing the usage as used cooking oil is available in abundance. The process of manufacturing Bio Diesel has been explained in the Diagram attached with the report.

Wow! so glad to hear how McDonalds and Neutral Feul company is utilizing left over oil as bio- diesel benefiting in two ways- cutting fossil fuel consumption and avoiding waste. I am hopeful this concept can be replicated in other countries as well.
Thank you for sharing dear Raunak :)

I was amazed too reading about it in various papers. Like it is said , "Waste is not a waste till it is wasted". Used Cooking oil can be recycled like this means actually anything and almost everything can be reused/recycled. Yes , bio fuel has tremendous potential as every household has oil waste(which should not be wasted). Thanks for the report ,Raunak with a detailed diagram

Very thoughtful.Used cooking oils which otherwise are unhealthy and pollute the environment are used for a great purpose-in the production of bio diesel. This practice must be adopted by more and more people so that it reduces the burden on our Mother Earth. Thanks for the report.

It's great to know recycling of the used cooking oil. I believe that plenty of such used oils are coming out of our daily lives and we will be able to save much waste and avoid the fossil fuels. Well reported, Raunak! :)
