Water pollution, as we all know, is the contamination of natural water bodies by chemicals and other pathogenic substances. This polluted water becomes the reason for various illness, causing death in many cases. It is considered that water pollution may occur due to natural causes such as sedimentation from severe rainfall. Chemical water pollutants are generally atoms or molecules, discharged into water bodies by human activities. Many of the common inorganic pollutants are produced by non-point sources ,relating to agriculture and high-density urban areas. In this world of factories, oil, plastics, cars and chemicals, some degree of water pollution is certain. It harms the environment which we live in,affecting us and our lives. Damaging the environment ultimately reduce the quality of our own lives, and that surely matters to us! We need a solution to the problem of water pollution. Making people aware is one of the most effective step towards reducing water pollution. Even if one person takes the initiative, others will follow. If you want something done, you have to go and do it yourself. India has a number of historical rivers which were considered pure and sacred once. It was believed that taking dips in the rivers will wash away all your sins. Now, the contaminated, dirty water bodies themselves need cleaning and purification. Keeping all the selfishness aside, we need to think about the common good of people and work for a better, less polluted environment. Nobody can deny the sight of a beautiful, clean and green world. There are generations to come in future and they shouldn't be deprived of seeing a still colourful, natural world.

Some king of cleaning campaing should be organized with the active participation from all the environment lovers. Local people's support plays vital role. We need to start from own level rather than to expect it from government all the time. We can bring change in the society if we really hope to.

Dear Yagya, the picture is describing clearly the status of water resources at present. Water is one of the fundamental elements for existence of life on the earth and indispensable for our existence. We should be aware not to pollute the clean water resources and make strategy to restore the cleanliness of polluted sources. Human activities should not be concentrated in disposing the generated wastes in water bodies. If we don't take action now, tomorrow will be too late.
Thank you for sharing this report on this serious concern dear Yagya :)

Water pollution is due to 3 factors. One is due to religious beliefs & other is due to Industrial & Third is direct Sewage Disposal into rivers.
I agree with you Yagya that if each one of us pick up one issue at a time & do their bit of contribution. All this can be sorted out.
Now, India is going aggressively to clean Ganges River. Many times in the past it has been tried. Here too active people & Industrial participation is neeede. First is to actually clean it & other is the maintain.
Well reported & hope all the best.

Pictures show such pathetic state of polluted water bodies.Polluted water is unsafe for drinking, bathing, swimming or fishing. Unfortunately some people believe pollution is an inescapable result of human activity: they argue that , pollution is a necessary evil that people must put up with if they want to make progress. That's not the fact. Water pollution can be avoided /reduced if we mind our disposal habits and if we are aware that it has harmful consequences on our healths ultimately. Thanks for highlighting the issue , Yagya.
