Travel and Offsetting |
---|
Travelling is what many Millennials. After all, who hasn't been travelling or backpacking in the past few months?
But travelling carries an adverse impact. The impact on the environment is huge. The plane trip may already have added tons of carbon to the atmosphere. But do not fear if you truly wish to offset those carbon your little junket has emitted into the air, ClimateCare and Carbon Footprint can do that for you! First calculate the number of miles you have flown. Then calculate how much you need to pay. These companies will then use your money to pay for developmental and environmental projects that will surely make your conscience a better one. http://www.climatecare.org/home.aspx http://www.carbonfootprint.com/offsetshop.html You could also grow your own food in your own garden to offset the carbo n emissions of the food you eat.. It has been done! If you live in a landed property, created vertical boards of soil so that plants can be grown on them. Even in urban areas, community gardens can be started on rooftops. The produce can then be distributed amongst the building dwellers. http://www.farmlandlp.com/2012/01/one-acre-feeds-a-person/ Well, I hope this helps you, Freedom travellers! Bernard |

I appreciate the proposal of these companies to offset our travel miles/carbon footprint but I feel we need to go a step further and cut down on travel itself. Many a times , people don't really need to travel , they can do their job by hitech solutions available like videoconferencing or skyping. Thanks for sharing , Bernard.
