DESERTEC CONCEPT

by | 04-09-2015 21:05 recommendations 0

I am very delighted to share about this concept with everybody, this s something that's already taking heart especially in the middle eastern countries as well as part of europe. But in the face of our current climate condition which poses incredible threat to humankind ongoing survival. Population growth is on the rise and the demand for energy, water, food and housing is increasing. Yet, our planets capacities to meet this demand are limited, and according to the Global ecological footprint network, they have already been exceeded. Humankind no longer lives in balance. Because of our reckless use of fossil fuel with have heated our planet to the brink causing catastrophic climate changes threatening the earths eco-system at unprecedented levels. How, one has to wonder can one planet provide ample energy, water, food for nine billion people in 2050 while maintaining stable climate conditions?
The Desertec Concept offers an answer to this question. in the coming decades, human development and climate protection will depend on the availability of abundant, clean power. It will be needed to make salt water drinkable, to produce sufficient amounts of food, to enable mobility, to heat homes and perhaps most significantly, to replace fossil fuel based power and thus slow climate change. our planets abundant sources of renewable energy therefore provide the key to extending prosperity and social harmony to more people around the world. Ultimately, this will lead to a slower rate of population growth and enable nine billion people to live together in comfort and peace.
The Desertec Concept shows that we already have the elements needed to create a sustainable future powered by renewable energy. Both the necessary technologies and the solar, wind, water and geothermal energy resources are proven and available.
Desertec is represented by a basic symbol, a red square to illustrate this point more clearly. the red square represents a small area of the desert that makes up significantly less than 1% of all desert regions on earth.
Solar energy radiated on this area is equal to the amount of energy needed to supply the entire human race for one years. Yes! its Unbelievable!
Put in another way, all the worlds deserts of the world receiveas much energy in six hours as humankind consumes in one year. In combination with other renewables, solar energy offers a total energy solution.
Deserts are well suited for producing electrcity because the desert sunshines reliably and with high intensity throughout the year. Frthermore, competing demands to use this land for agriculture or settlement are far fewer than in most other regions of the world. In its essence, DESERTEC wants to link the desert regions with those that have the best available technologies (DESERT- TECH = DESERTEC). This explains the neologism, but DESERTEC is far more than just "clean Power from the desert". DESERTEC considers water, energy, and land altogether in order to come up with an integrated solution. By harnessing different energy sources like solar, wind, water, food, mobility, and development too, thus paving the way to peace and security.
As should every country all over the world enjoy peace, harmony and prosperity, collaborating with nature at all levels in unison and productivity that's why I take this platform to announce that Zambia, as it is on a suffering power deficit will soon infuse 1200 MW of solar energy through PV into its national power supply by 2016 and as an assurance for sustainability and fruition of this major shift I will implement the Desertec concept in my country as it has been planned since May 2015, I am apart of an international Solar for Prosperity Pioneering Team so our project is gaining momentum in our countries so stay tuned for news and updates from Zambia in the world report.

Thanks Luiz! Yes i like that Amazon the lungs of the planet and Africa the heart of the earth with solar power, the world runs on energy without it, its dormant. well said, Luiz, thanks!

I have read about Desertec a few years ago I indeed that is amazing. As well as Amazon is consider the lung of the planet, Africa can be the heart of the Earth with solar energy power. I wish all the best for its project and congratulation mate. Keep sharing. =)

Thanks for sharing such interesting details on Desertec. Reading this makes us believe that indeed it is possible to have sustainable future by harnessing sustainable power from sun rich deserts and transferring to consumption centres . I just hope that global renewable energy plan is chalked out and worked upon soon based on desertec.
Glad to know about Zambia's plan of infusing 1200 MW of solar energy into national grid. It's good to know that you are a part of an international Solar for Prosperity Pioneering Team. Looking forward to more updates from you .
