Benefit

1

Old Resistance type Fan regulators in use in 74% rooms

Need to put electronics type regulators in all rooms

Saving of energy

2

Tube light 36 W / 40 W fitted in 100% classes

Can be replace by T5 ( 28 W ) electrical efficient light

Savings of energy

3

Tube light 36 W / 40 W fitted in 13 nos. Toilets

15 W CFL is sufficient in existing point

Savings of energy

4

59% Ceiling fans are of old type ( 80 W) in most of the classes

50 W Ceiling fan can be fitted

Savings of energy

5

Tube light 36 W  fitted in corridor

Can be replaced by 15 W CFL.

Savings of energy

6

In black board 4 nos. tube light 36 W / 40 W fitted in all classes

Can be replaced by CFL 11  Watt.

Savings of energy

7

In 80% class room many room 8 nos. tube light fitted on top of the roof, resulted poor illumination and vibration of fan blades.

The number of light can be reduced to 4 nos. and height can be lowered down

For better illumination

8

Observed  Curtain used in many room , which is obstructing entry of  natural light

The curtail can be removed mainly from class room , library,

For natural illumination

The hazy glasses in the window   found  in     nos. room , obstructing entry of sun light

Can be replaced by transparent glasses for entry of sun light.

Entry of sun light through window

Most of fans are fitted at  14 ft. height , resulted lesser effectiveness of spreading of  air

The fan  position can be lowered down to 10ft ( light at 9ft) by putting extension pipe.

Improvement in efficiency in air flow

11

Due to putting of multiple switches , putting of  so many lights and fans are trouble some for the students and found not put off in many occasions.

Need main switches in every class

Need shifting of switch board beside entry door only at suitable height

15

In few rooms natural light is unable to entry due to wall

Where ever is possible window can be made for entry of natural light and air

16

The socket of the 3 pin plugs  is found connected with electric board

The plug to be kept in  remove condition

 where ever not in use.

17

Gaps in  the doors  and windows in AC room

Sealing of room to be studied and reduced accordingly.

Good project, same can be replicated in other schools and institutions. Saving a unit power is equivalent to generating more than 1 unit of power. I hope this will inspire other to take similar project.

Rajshree, This is a great Project. We had done this in our school too as Green Team, and Won the Conservation Award in 2011 from the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority. You Must also try to conserve water by making simple adjustment in the flush tank of the toilets by placing a one litre bottle or water packet, so each flush saves about a similar amount of water and imagine 2000 students and teachers using toilets regularly will lead to a substantial saving. I have a project done on this and I can share it with you if you want to implement it : Please contact me.
Also I suggest that you and your school participate in the ongoing contest POWER COUNT CHALLENGE by Paryavaran Mitra, Link to the contest is-

    GOOD LUCK and Best Wishes,
