Weather Hiccups in Zambia |
---|
Zambia has always enjoyed its seasons and every Zambian is accustomed to its routine schedule, though over the past few years we?ve had hiccups in our weather patterns and I am sure as I will wake up tomorrow that Zambia isn?t the only country. I?ll echo it again; developing countries will feel the greatest blow of climate change. The absolute truth is our planet is changing and our population is growing. Each one of us is impacting the environment and each one of us will be affected but not equally. Wait a minute!!!That?s just UNFAIR! I mean why are we the ones to suffer when we are not even half the cause of the problem? Some would say, ?hey Jack! That?s how the world works ?status quo? remember?. No! I refuse to bow down this law I say we challenge it, in this world of arm chair bloggers who have created a world of critics instead of leaders I actually doing something about it for my city for my country for my planet and I am not doing it alone. Perhaps you might be wondering what has gotten me so worked up, well I?ll tell you; we have just survived the cold season June & July and August is supposed to pave the way for the hot season it usually greets us with the wind we know it to be so. To my surprise and many citizens of my country we had rains various parts of the country this past weekend coming into a few days of this week totally unexpected and this one scoops the climate change scar award in all categories. The evidence is there very vivid and crystal clear, it is happening! These rains came with one heck of cold snap we bearly see the sun anymore atleast for a couple of a days now. Is this what it takes for our governments to take climate change seriously? To see people reach the point of death or even die, have we lost foresight that this world does not belong to us that we have just borrowed it from our children, as the case is now we are stealing the resources they are supposed to use? Please take heart and listen! Witnessing something like this happen in Zambia it scares me, it gets me to think what about the child that is starving, a child without a home, a child freezing... think about them we are not alone in this world instead we are one community what appears to be an individual is actually a network. Each one of us is infact, a living, breathing community but it doesn?t stop there. Every individual hope you harbour, every dream you retain, every desire you fulfil has an impact far greater than you can imagine. Atleast that?s how it looks from where I?m sitting... |

We are the change and when we build the army of eco-warriors mainly through the schools and communities, which is happening these days in many countries, we will have started the actions to save the Earth in a big way. All little drops and little steps will gather momentum when many people join.
