October 25th, Arbor Day in Algeria

The celebration of this event for 2015 was organized under the theme "The tree: an investment for the future" , the choice of this theme  address the importance of trees and forest ecosystems in mitigating climate change and the important role which they play in environmental, social and economic field.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries (Directorate General of Forests)  organized the celebration of this day through all the states of the country. This event is also harnessed to raise awareness and inform public opinion on the phenomenon of deforestation its causes and effects, the consequences are dramatic on the environment in our country.

The official ceremony took place Sunday, October 25, at my state , Sidi Bel Abbes in view of the important role of the state in promoting forest heritage and the fight against erosion and desertification.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, a Framework Agreement was signed between the General Directorate of Forestry and Social Development Agency on the implementation modalities of the TUP-HIMO program, which will be mainly devoted to the rehabilitation, reforestation and protection actions of forests . 

In addition, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fishing proceeded the opening of a Study Day on the theme "Forest protection" and he went to the field to visit a green band, a project to fight against floods and has launched planting campaign. Furthermore, a varied program was prepared for the occasion and which comes in round tables, communications, radio and television programs, exhibitions and open days.
