Life after 6 months of Earthquake in Nepal

by Sujan Adhikari | 01-11-2015 21:02 recommendations 0

The life was normal there students were busy playing outside, and parents in the farmland as it were Saturday though some were inside the house. Of sudden 7.8 Richter Scale hit most of the lands round the Valley. In a few seconds, the momentum, the happiness students and people were gaining vanished in rubbles.

And after 6 months, I went for Volunteering in one of worst affected area, Boadgaun of Sindhupalchowk District. Still there are rubbles, broken wooden frames, zinc sheets as it was on the shake day. Some people already built temporary house and some are on tent still. These all are scenario of villages and when it comes to School, it's a little bit different.

Schools remained closed for about more than one month due to 2 bigger shakes and later when life was in normal condition of abnormal situation, schools opened. Still we can feel impacts of earthquake as they are reading in temporary structures. Brick walled rooms are no more there and they are occupied by bamboo fences. Yeah we can see students studying in tent provided by donor organization. They escaped from earthquake, its their luck they are reading in closed corner of tent, its their fate.

Angela Majhi told," When severe earthquake shook this earth, I was with four friends and baby sister inside my house reading. Instinctively we were under doorframes but it doesn?t gonna solve the situation. So, we rushed out impatiently. Alas my house collapsed in seconds and so the other buildings near my house. Since our house was made of mud and bricks, it?s been prone to earthquake and now we felt it too. Surrounding was covered in dirt and it was like impossible to move around."

"After shaking stopped she rushed to rescue people in the village. Minor casualties had occurred. We evacuated aged people and handicapped. Now life is normal in-between abnormalities.", She reported.

Of course the story was sad, but it was truth. They faced it, we just listened them.

Its only example among thousands schools effected by earthquake. This natural calamity hit hard in life of hilly region of Central Nepal.

In 1st Day to the Camp, we surveyed village what type of program to organize there and what their need is. We were headed with environmental and agricultural program in our team. We found life is normal though it's completely displaced, disturbed.

Only this for 1st day, more will come on next article about 2nd Day. Picture illustrates these all.
