Clothes for Compassion – Helping the War affected & Environment

by Rohan Kapur | 01-11-2015 19:04 recommendations 0

A few days ago I received a big empty charity bag with my morning newspaper ?Gulf News?. It was stated that the bags can be filled out by fresh clothes, shoes etc. and dropped at the collection points in Oasis Mall, Dubai by 21-Nov-15. I immediately checked further & found that this was a part of drive aims to support UAE Red Crescent?s ?Yemen We Care? campaign launched in the UAE to collect clothes for people in the war-affected areas of Yemen. It is a month long drive.

This time the campaign is supported by Gulf News therefore they sent a big charity bag to all its subscribers. This is the Third year of this campaign & I?m proud the state that all these years I?m a dedicated supporter to this cause. I collect & donate New clothes, Shoes etc. every year for this noble initiative. This time I went to Oasis Mall, Dubai on 31-Oct-15 & dropped my humble donation at the collection point. I felt content & elated.

Many of our new unused clothes becomes smaller as we grow each year. Normally people throw these clothes in garbage as there is no other alternative. This is not at all eco-friendly as these items end up in landfills. Once you throw in garbage nobody can wear this anymore. Thus the item becomes useless & a burden on The Mother Earth.

UAE being a vibrant country, such new clothes are in plenty & people donate generously. I make is a point to add some brand new clothes also along with the other unused new clothes. Believe me friends, it gives such a feeling of satisfaction as some children in far flung war affected country [like Yemen, This time. Last year it was Syria] wear your clothes & feels cared for. They will give their divine blessings which will keep you going strong & blessed by the Almighty.

By way of this report & my humble efforts for past three years, I urge all the strong team of ever so active UAE Ambassadors & other dynamic & considerate Ambassadors spread all over the world of the Tunza Eco-Generation Platform to help & donate for similar campaigns in their regions so that the poor & needy are taken care of & please avoid throwing these to the garbage & adding to the landfills of their countries. The Dubai campaign is on till 21-Nov-15. In case you do not have the bag, you may take your donation to the Oasis Mall & approach the ?Information? desk located at the main entrance. They will happily provide bags to you.

Thanks for reading.

Great initiative Rohan, as saying one's trash is another man's treasure.
The clothes we donate would be of great use for them, we have also launched a cloth collection drive in school.

Really good initiative. Reuse of the old clothes is definetly a good option. In addition to that helping the needy ones is greater than anything else.
