How Japan Mitigate Climate Change : Low Carbon Society |

Do you know about Low Carbon Society? Maybe its something unfamiliar in our ear even actually it is not a new issue in Japan. Low Carbon Society concept now is used by Japan as one of the method to mitigate climate change. Japan has a target to reduce their carbon production 80% from 1990. In this concept, societies are designed to reduce their carbon production in our daily life, from the electricity consumption in the house to the transportation necessity.
Currently, Japan has effort to realize the Low Carbon Society. By developing its technology, Japan is pressing the number of carbon production. Such as by being the largest solar cells producer in the World, using high end air conditioner which is the highest level energy efficiency in the World, having highest share of public transport in the world, and so on. While reducing national carbon production, Japan also try to support other countries effort by dissemination of technology, conducting partnership called The Cool Earth Partnership, and establishing of multilateral fund.
I remember on my class, at that time, my lecturer said about some simple things that I didn't know it is one of the way to realize low carbon society. He said that just by using different type of window glass, the produced carbon will be also different. I thought that there is no relationship between window glass to the carbon production, but it is true. Using special window glass that I don't know what kind of glass is this can protect the heat loss in the winter, so the heater usage can be reduced and now I got the connection energy can be reduced as well. And going to the global level, it can mitigate climate change though. I was surprised, Japan thinks everything in detail and integrates many things into one formula for realizing Low carbon society.
So, what we can do? We are not stakeholders, we could not make a policy yet. So, we can start realizing carbon society from the lowest level. We can choose local vegetables to reduce energy for food distribution, we can convert bulb to be low-energy bulb, using public transportation, and so on. Because the aim is low carbon society is for society, not only for low carbon person, so lets share and promote this low carbon society to our families, friends, relatives, and so on. Living coexist with the nature is all what we want. Because we are living in the same home, called Earth. |

Thanks for sharing. Indeed, Japan is working well towards mitigating climate change! I hope they can apply technologies in developing coutries more than already doing. =)

Japan has always been at the forefont when it comes to using innovative technologies and strategies to mitigate climate change. Reducing carbon emission by 80% is really an ambitious target but with concepts like 'Low carbon society', it's possible. I so much agree with you that we can start realizing carbon society from the lowest level. We all together form a society so each & every individual has to contribute to reducing carbon footprint and every efforts counts. Thanks for an interesting and informative report.

80% is a real bold goal. Thank you for sharing, Muklish. I think Japan is doing well in making bold goal into doable detail plan. I would love to see the result of Japan's initiative.

Informative Report Mukhilish, Every Country should work to be Low Carbon Society and it is the need of this Age. Yeah, We must focus on reducing Carbon Foot Prints by using locally available materials. Also using such windows which protect heat inside in winter and reduces use of heater is best idea. But it seems more developed formula and can only be implemented in developed countries. But , by saying this undeveloped countries should also try by the means available there in their country. Some country still depends on woods which produces large carbon source. So every Countries have their own responsibility to perform at the grass root level and protect Mother Earth.

Japan has really done a good job inorder to combat the cliamte change and environmental problems. Low carbon emission is one of the way.
