Number of U.S. nuclear bombs lost in accidents and never recovered: 11 Ah! Now that I have your attention. Brookings Institution, the most respected think tank of the world, had recently came up with a fact compilation regarding US indulgence in nuclear weapons. It reports that the total number and types of nuclear warheads and bombs built, 1945-1990 are 70000 and 65 respectively with 1030 weapon tests. The figures, I dont think will be much different for Russia which was the other superpower during cold war times. Before the world can think and react to these 'technology' advances, suddenly the whole world has joined the black race. Currently the world shelters more that 19500 nuclear weapons. And only nine countries are in the race. I am giving the figures released by Reuters (www.fas.org) stating the total number of nuclear weapons possessed by various nations. Russia: 10000 USA: 8500 France: 300 China: 240 Britain: 225 Israel: 80 Pakistan: 90-110 India: 80-100 North Korea: 10 Iran is another nation who is also in the race with undeclared nuclear possessions. Now what really concerns me is that these weapons surely requires a great deal of money and resources to be financed. And no to mention the damages borne by our sweet mother nature while testing them. Now what really drives them? Everyone knows the nuclear war will end everything, the winner and the loser, equally and eternally. It will destroy the fruits of evolution...but still everyone is joining the herd. And why India? Even if few countries might have the glamour cool image to boast nuclear weapons, why is India, and few similar other ones, engaging themselves while its citizens die of starvation and poachers kill the national animal everyday. Somewhere somehow man got terribly greedy and blind.
