Hello , Everyone!!
It's already August! About half of a year has passed!!
I wish everyone has learned a lot of information related to environment and other fields as well!
For this month's article I would like to introduce a new topic which is a conference that is going to be held in Korea on September!
Let's go and look at it!
The conference is called East Asian Seas Congress 2012. The purpose of this meeting is to build a blue economy based on strategy, opportunities and partnerships in the Seas of East Asia. This is a pioneering region-wide platform for capacity building, strategic action and cooperation for the sustainable development of the Seas of East Asia. It has been described as an intellectual marketplace whereby various groups all across the globe come together to share knowledge/experiences and engage in dynamic discussions regarding trends, issues and concerns related to coastal and ocean governance.
The EAS Congress 2012, to be held on 09-13 July 2012, will be hosted by the Government of the Republic of Korea, through the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs (MLTM) and the Changwon City Government. It is being organized by the Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia, MLTM and Changwon and supported by the Global Environment Facility, United Nations Development Programme, and United Nations Office for Project Services. It will feature the Fourth Ministerial Forum, an International Conference, an Exhibition, and the Third EAS Youth Forum, as well as a special EAS Partnership Council Meeting, a PEMSEA Network of Local Governments Forum, and many other activities.
This summit will have a crucial role of coastal and ocean resources in support of the global commitments to enhance human welfare and environmental sustainability while pursuing economic growth. In particular, it will provide participants with the prospect of identifying contributions, progress and achievements in the governance of regional/sub-regional seas within the framework of the Sustainable Development Strategy for the Seas of East Asia, which are the essential building blocks for a blue economy, as well as new opportunities and the intergovernmental and multi-sectoral partnerships, which are required in order to realize the full potential of the ocean economy of East Asia.
