From the 21-23 December 2015, total  55 schools from central India met at Pragya Girls School Indore to participate in the Regional Level CBSE Science Exhibition 2015-16 for Ajmer region. My brother  Shibajyoti participated with his  model on ? the effective utilization of  LPG ? from his school – Kendriya Vidyalaya  2 GCF, Jabalpur.   I took part along with my team member Mr. Mohinoor Singh Batra with our model on ? Aqua management to support  Swachh Bharat mission ? under the guidance of our science teacher Mr. Rajesh Vishwakarma.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) of India has been taking many initiatives to provide interactive, participatory, hands-on, innovative and creative learning experiences to students studying in its affiliated schools. One such initiative refers to the organization of Science Exhibition at Regional and National levels every year. The activity aims at providing a common platform to schools, teachers and students to give shape to their innovative ideas and learn from each other?s experiences. These exhibitions also provide a medium for popularizing Science and increasing awareness among stakeholders about the close relationship between Science, Technology and Society.

The main objectives of organizing Science Exhibition for 2015 – 16 can be summarized as:

1.        to provide a forum for children to pursue their natural curiosity, creativity, innovation and inventiveness

2.       to make children feel that science and mathematics are all around us and we can gain knowledge as well as solve many problems by relating the learning process to the physical and social environment

3.       to lay emphasis on the development of science and mathematics as a major instrument for achieving goals of self-reliance, socio-economic and socio-ecological development of the nation and the world

4.      to analyze how science and mathematics have developed and are affected by many diverse individuals, cultures, societies and environment

5.       to appreciate the role of science and mathematics in meeting the challenges of life such as climate change, opening new avenues in the areas of agriculture, fertilizer, food processing, biotechnology, green energy, disaster management, information and communication technology, astronomy, transport, games and sports etc.

6.      to create awareness about environmental issues and concerns and inspire children to devise innovative ideas towards their prevention and mitigation.

In the three days we  got the scope to see 88 exhibits based on the theme ?Science and Mathematics for Inclusive development?. Among the 88 models displayed, 25 nos. model were displayed  on the sub theme- Resource management.  . Many projects under this sub theme showcased the ways of effective utilization of our resources a few of them were very innovative and if implemented would be of great use for our society and reduce the impact on our environment. The main focus was how to reduce the human impact on nature   It was  a wonderful experience for us . Few photographs are attached here.

We have seen how to make sustainable city  by recycling  waste, the method of  utilizing  of sugar canes waste for power generation, making fuel  from plastics waste, to develop fuel from Carbon dioxide,  the  development of artificial leaf to make biofuel,  the emission free transport, the rotating solar energy collector, use of open mines area for future development,  the way to prevent cancer, to use papaya leaf to cure   malaria  and many more.

Our models on ? Aqua management to support  Swachh Bharat mission ? came out few ideas about save water in houses and stood 1st among the 25 nos. model under Resource management . Now we are planning to take part in the national level exhibition. If we get ideas from our friends on water savings , that  will help us to upgrade our model.

Thanks for sharing the work of exhibits and really innovative solutions demonstrated by participants. Congrats for winning under 'Resource Management'. All the best for your entry at 'national level'. Aqua management to support Swachh Bharat mission -is really a great theme and an effort to genuinely support Indian PM's Swachh Bharat mission.
Exhibitions like these are very useful in spreading awareness about lesser known solutions like power generation from sugarcane or fuel from algae.
