The Science Express – Biodiversity Special , known an as SEBS in short, is a mobile exhibition. It is a 16 coach train which has been touring Indian cities, to spread the message of conserving biodiversity throughout the country. The current decade ( 2011 – 2020 ) has been declared as the United Nations Decade on Biodiversity and United Nations Decade for Deserts and the Fight against Desertification. Since India was also hosting COP11 in Hyderabad, this train with its theme of ?Biodiversity? was specially stationed  to spread awareness about climate change, biodiversity of India and major conservation issues.

As Young Leaders for Biodiversity , we received invitations to visit the train. Ambassador Rajashree had earlier submitted a report on this train and I was very keen to have the good fortune of being able to see and learn first hand so that I could then share it with all fellow ambassadors.

The train is truly an encyclopedia of knowledge .  Through interactive screens , it enriches the visitors? knowledge about India?s varied diversity, its ecosystem , the millions of species which thrive in different biomes, the dangers they face . There are several diagrams and charts on climate change and the dangers that we face. It is the best classroom for teaching children about climate change and biodiversity conservation.

On the platform, an art exhibition was organized , where we, youth leaders, drew our messages for biodiversity.

Some of us helped the volunteers who were conducting quizzes for the students of the local schools who had come on a field trip.
