On November 22, 2012, I attended the Greeneration Summit in Manila and met an inspiring environmentalist, Climate Change Commissioner Naderev Sano. I listened as he told us about the biggest problems of the world like economic collapse, peak oil, water crisis, species extinction that are all aggravated by climate change. He told us that this happens because we are pursuing development in a very unsustainable manner all over the world. He said we need new ideas and we need to transform the way we do things.
Today (December 5) I saw in the news that he is the lead negotiator in the UN Climate Change conference in Doha Qatar. Just this week the Philippines again experienced a deadly typhoon that killed about 40 people and displaced thousands of people. This was Typhoon Bopha which is the most southerly typhoon ever recorded in the western Pacific and the strongest to hit the Philippines this year. Commissioner Sano said that Typhoon Bopha and Hurricane Sandy in the US last month "are clear examples that we need to call for urgency and that climate change is really happening." We have to listen to him and all those at the Doha conference. We all have to do our part to take care of our environment. Photo: Bam Azores with Commissioner Naderev Sano at the Greeneration Summit

We feel so sorry for Philippines' loss caused by Typhoon.
The Climate change issue must take an important part in policies of Indonesian Government.
