Model United Nations or MUN?s are generally meant for grade 9 upwards, so it was really a special moment for me as a 12 year old to receive a special invitation to attend a MUN and that too , of Harvard University , one of the top universities of the world. HMUN or Harvard Model United Nations is a globally acclaimed event which students eagerly wait for, as it gives them an opportunity to hone their skills on international policy and UN matters. As the youngest international participating delegate at Rio+20 , I already carried with me the experience of attending and presenting at an actual UN summit. Since I am passionate about MDGs and work a lot on poverty eradication, I was thrilled to be nominated to take part in the World Health Organisation ( WHO ) forum , representing Pakistan. My paper on the effect of natural calamities on a developing nation was a result of painstaking research and was accepted as the paper by the youngest delegate at the conference. As with other international events that I have attended, my greatest takeaway was the interaction and networking I achieved with delegates from across the world, from USA to the Far East.
