Building Marine Tourism Park in Karimunjawa as Blue Economy Development Strategy

by | 11-03-2013 22:14 recommendations 0

Karimunjawa Island constitutes one of the earth?s most ecologically significant area, hosting a huge diversity of marine species and providing a historical heritage needing a demand from government and certain stakeholder to be explored. Karimunjawa also has a prominent national marine park is called Karimunjawa National Park designated in the Karimunjawa archipelago.

Karimunjawa has some beautiful tourist places including natural heritage and cultural heritage, which are white sandy beach, pristine coral reefs, challenging treks through the hills, the pilgrimage to Sunan Nyamplungan Cemetery, and the customs and traditions of the Karimunjawa community. Karimunjawa also has 27 small islands linking in the territory.

In other hand, Global tourism is growing at an ever-increasing rate. According to World Trade Organization, in 2000, 696.7 million international tourist trips were taken for at least one night, up 52% from 1990 figures. So, the above facts are a great occasion for  government and stakeholder to introduce Karimunjawa Island nationally and internationally. Outside of promotion of its potency through media, it can be challenges of being the sustainable blue business.

The business model implemented by government of Jepara bygones by bygones has not considered the concept of blue economy. The previous concept has been more considering the economical benefit than the ecological benefit and social benefit. As an innovation that will be applied is blue economy by building Marine Tourism Park. The !==!==!--object--====ive of that concept is to achieve business profitability and environmental sustainability. Its purpose would be also to manage the area?s natural resources and cultural resources, and alleviate the destruction of blue potency of island.

Yes, tourism without sustainable operation can't go for long time. It's wise way to gain both of environment protection and economic value.
