2 Building Marine Tourism Park in Karimunjawa as Blue Economy Development Strategy

by | 11-03-2013 22:16 recommendations 0

The Marine Tourism Park is a breakthrough to introduce Karimunjawa in global society regarding its natural and cultural heritage especially the beautiful surrounding archipelago of Karimunjawa island. That park is formally dedicated to the protection and maintenance of biological diversity and associated cultural resources, and to the promotion of the hidden potency and cooperation.

This concept emphasizes an endeavor to maintain the natural resources in marine area well and to protect the cultural heritage sites in Karimunjawa. It is not only both of those attempts that will be attained, but also it will wisely explore the local indigenous there. It can be expected that by implementing this way, many tourists will visit and enjoy the wonderful of Indonesia especially Karimunjawa island.

Here, the blue strategy concept is to collaborate among business profitability, sustainable environment and the local wisdom. The business profitability is a part of sustainable environment because the sustainability of environment is an enduring value for the next generation with still considering the ecological benefit, economic benefit and the social benefit. Meanwhile, local wisdom is an !==!==!--embed--====ded culture value to the next generation in certain societies or tribes.

Of the previous explanation, ecologically, blue economy concept by building marine tourism park can be applied in using some natural resources properly with mature consideration. For instance, the balance of utilization and conservation towards flora and fauna in Karimunjawa national park including coral reef, seagrass and seaweed, mangrove forest, coastal forest and low land tropical rainforest. Marine tourism park can be encouraged with a maintenance of the above natural resources especially coral reef, seagrass and seaweed, kinds of forest.

By developing marine tourism park, the society can grab food source from natural resource management economically. In other hands, in social aspects, the marine tourism park can be a generator of foreign exchange and employment. In the past, Karimunjawa has been visited many national and international tourists, especially Karimunjawa is close to Jepara, a international wood carving city, so that many foreigners come to Jepara and are brave to extend their vacations outside of business to Karimunjawa. Yet, many dwellers living there have been built up dormitory, hotel, hostel and so forth to provide their reservations.

The hidden feature that must be explored in detail is local indigenous of Karimunjawa?s people. Many local indigenous are always acted with combining !==!==!--embed--====ded culture. It can be proven by manners of protecting natural and cultural sites. For instance, the utilization of Dewandaru as the magnificent trees which is only for devotional and protective purposes. The villagers use this wood for the fashioning of furniture or as a building material and only the courageous people would use it in their spiritual activities. In other hand, many folklores and folkways that are ready to promote this island of being prominent island than before. Those above local wisdoms intend to nourish the use of natural resources well and to maintain its potential asset of culture.

It has been a golden opportunity for carving the accomplishment by building blue economy based marine tourism park and for increasing the local income of Jepara?s government as well. Perhaps, partially this concept has been executed well under auspice of the government of Indonesia. However, it is needed scaling-up of blue economy concept - based marine tourism park of being sustainable pathway.
