One of the most popular eco-event in Romania is Earth Hour, a campaign organized by WWF Romania, with the support of City Councils and other companies.

Romanians are funny people so the team behind WWF chooses to underline the importance of celebrating Earth Hour, by an amusing tag line: Bulb light eclipse- shut down the light.

All the information?s the campaign are updated on the website of Earth Hour Campaign: http://www.orapamantului.ro. On the website was also created a poll using one question, asking people regarding participation at the campaign: Will you participate at the activities during the campaign?   Information?s about Earth Hour were also available on Facebook where activist, people involved in the campaign, students , and other people passionate about nature and environmental sciences get together and discuss ideas for a better planet.

The website offers also the options to download posters, reading about new ideas ad post about related activities during the event sounds strange, but a lot of people is asking what to do if they get the light off for an hour are so many things to do: taking a nap, having a romantic dinner on candles light, chatting with a friend, ore just meditate.

On 23 March the most important cultural institutions from Bucharest has given the signal that the eco-fest can start. In the biggest park from the capital of Romania, Bucharest, Herastrau Park, were organized a king of unplugged- party with a concert of symphonic music, launch of lanterns on the sky, and a culinary-show sustained by famous cookers.

Also over 30 cities from all Romania have taken part of the campaign. A nice surprise was the implication of students for Faculty of Geography, part of University of Bucharest during the event. It is admirable that teachers start to sustain students to promote and participate at this kind of events.

In conclusion I am just asking myself if this global event gas a measurable impact, or just a micro impact over our monthly bills.
