The Walk for Autism 2013 |

The walk for autism 2013 was held at the zabe'el park on the 20th of April 2013 with great pomp and ceremony. Many enthusiastic children, parents, teenagers, organizations, individuals, and child care centres came to participate in this walk. The walk for autism was organized by the child early intervention centre to promote autism and to showcase the ability of the autistic children to the world. This walk was three laps around the zabe'el park arena which made up the 3km of the walk we were supposed to complete. The walk started at 5:30. Me and my brother raunak were volunteered in this walk as we wanted to help support the cause. We were overjoyed to be helping these children. We volunteered at the bouncy castle where lots of these children came to jump, play around and have fun. There was a stage with a live dj and the walk was complete with bouncy castles, ice cream vans, cold water stations and a handicraft market. On the 13th of April, we had hugs day in our school organized by 'saathi' where we played and spent time with the autistic children. Many of the children from hugs day were present in this walk as I met my partner in this walk. There was a child whose name was karthik who sang beautifully. When he was called on stage, he stunned us with his amazing voice and accurate lyrics. From this experience I learnt that everybody isn't gifted with everything, but there is some special quality in all of us. So we should treat everyone equally and accept them as friends |

Yes it was indeed a good cause walk. I was also a volunteer for that in sorting out & packaging the stuff sent by sponsors. Children with special needs are really special in the way that God listens to them very fast and they have their strong inner sense. We must put in all our efforts to make them feel good , to help intigrating them into society , to accept them. I look for opportunities to work for such children. Every year in our school we have SAATHI HUGS day which is dedicated to autistic chidlren. All volunteers like us get to take care of one special child. It means a lot to me , making them feel happy , helping them to write . draw , playing & dancing with the\m. There is nothing like their smile.God give them courage and all what they need.

@Christy......ha! ha! that's right Christy......but if we are doing a good deed, god gives us strength. I was feeling really tired but I knew that this was for a noble cause, so I carried on....

yes it was fun and gr8 work for our special friends....even I was there to volunteer the event and met the same boy with whom I spent time when he came to our school.
