How would you like to grow into a tree after you die? |
---|
Life after death is quite a debatable issue. Many of us believe in it, many of us don?t, But what if there was an option to guarantee you grew into a tree after your death? Would you opt for it? In the year 1997, product designer Gerard Moliné came up with the genius idea of a BIOS URN as he called it. An URN as you would know is a tall, rounded vase with a base, used generally for storing the ashes of a cremated person. Now a bios urn is an urn that is used for an environmentally sound process. The Bios Urn is a funeral urn designed to utilize biodegradable materials like coconut shell, compact peat, and cellulose. Inside the urn, there is a tree seed which can be replaced by any other kind of seed, shoot or suitable plant for the chosen place. When the urn is buried, the seed germinates and starts to grow. Cremated remains help trees to grow as they are full of nutrients (a good source of phosphorus) which helps in the fertilization process. Depending on where the seed is planted, other vegetation or another tree may emerge. The designers created a system where you?re able to pick from a variety of trees and plants as part of the experience. As I read somewhere, The Bios biodegradable urn changes the Biblical paraphrase from, ?ashes to ashes dust to dust,? to ?ashes to fertilizer, dust to soil.? It is a wonderful way to give back after you are gone. Yes, you can now even recycle your own dead body. How many of you would? Look at this video and think, would you prefer leaving behind a tree or a tombstone? |
