A few days ago I stumbled upon this intolerable site of garbage being thrown outside the bin instead of inside it. I saw this in Shuwahein on 13th June.
I think it is very irresponsible of the culprit to do this as the municipality has set up so many dustbins everywhere for our comfort. I was really affected by this site and instantly put all the garbage of the plastic bags in the bin.
After all, it is this little bit of hard work that can make a tremendous difference in the long run to help save our earth. As the recent problems of global warming, greenhouse gases and radioactive waste are piling up, this is the least we can expect from the citizens of a wonderful, clean and green country like UAE.
I think that heavy fines should be imposed on littering like this and there should be notices of the penalty everywhere, especially on the dustbins along with a picture of the effects of this on the environment, (for example global warming) just like there are pictures on cigarette packs for smokers. If these precautionary steps are taken, keeping in mind the oft-told saying, ?prevention is better than cure?, I?m sure that we all will have better lives
