Philippine Youth Environment Network Grand Launch

Tomorrow is a big day for young environmentalists in our country. Tomorrow we celebrate "Araw ng Eco-Filipino: Kabataan Para sa Kalikasan" at 5pm in the SM City North EDSA in Quezon City, Philippines. The lead organizers are people I knew from way back in 2011 when we were together at the UN TUNZA Youth and Children's Conference in Bandung, Indonesia. Although I will not be able to attend the event, I am excited for them because it will bring together young people who love the environment. It is sponsored by some of the biggest corporations in the Philippines including Smart Telecom, Meralco (electric utility), Maynilad (water utility), Sun Cellular and SM City. One of the main events is the awarding of the winner of the Photo-Essay Competition that aims to raise awareness about the network and about the staggering amount and consequences of food loss and waste and to allow the literary talent of young people to be developed. The theme is "Think, Eat, Save... A Campaign to Reduce Food Loss and Waste. So tomorrow will be another day to raise awareness among Philippine youth about the environment.
